Hierarchical vs. Relational XML Schema Design

Abstract: This report defines the two types of XML schema structural designs: hierarchical and relational. It then evaluates the two designs in terms of how well they satisfy those criteria deemed most pertinent to the Exchange Network. It is intended to serve as a supplemental resource for developers of XML schemas.
