Data Exchange Description

The four states in EPA Region VII have created the Homeland Emergency Response Exchange (HERE) to share available environmental, health, and natural resource information with state agencies involved in emergency response planning and implementation. The exchange allows partners to reach across organizational lines to retrieve integrated environmental and natural resource data from agencies in other partner states. Emergency planners can quickly identify potential dangers posed by chemical inventories or hazardous waste storage. In minutes, response teams can assess threats to drinking water infrastructure or other environmental interests. In short, HERE provides access to better information that can offer opportunities for more comprehensive planning and more informed responses. If your organization is interested in implementing HERE, please read on for more information or contact one of the project partners listed at the bottom of this page.
