Data Exchange Description
The Emissions Inventory System (EIS) is EPA’s information system for storing all current and historical emissions inventory data. It will be used to receive and store emissions data and generate emission inventories beginning with the 2008 National Emissions Inventory (NEI). Network partners submit emissions inventory data to the EIS using the EIS Data Exchange.
Starting July 2, 2009, registered users were able to use the EIS Exchange to submit Facility Inventory, Point, Nonpoint, Onroad, and Nonroad data categories to the Quality Assurance environment of EIS. Starting on July 15, 2009, registered users were able to begin sending these data to either the EIS Production or QA environments. All data submitted over the EIS Exchange will receive feedback from close to one thousand quality assurance checks.
The EIS uses a new XML schema called the Consolidated Emission Reporting Schema (CERS), which is available below. Important supplemental information on the EIS submission process is available at http://www.epa.gov/ttn/chief/net/neip/index.html.
