Network Clients

Network Clients (also called Node Clients) can interact with Exchange Network Nodes by:

  • Submitting data to Nodes
  • Requesting data from Nodes
  • Receiving results from Nodes

Network Clients cannot respond to data queries from other Nodes, however, and therefore cannot publish data on the Network.  Network Clients may be a more cost-effective solution for Partners who do not have a compelling business need to publish their data.

Download this info sheet for more information about the differences between a Node and a Client.

Node 2.0 (and 1.1) Compliant Tools

  • Node Client Lite 2:  A Network Client developed by  Windsor Solutions that runs from your desktop and interacts with Exchange Network Nodes through a simple user interface. The Node Client provides the following benefits:
    • Provides an understandable, easy-to-use interface for interacting with Nodes
    • Assists in testing the development and implementation of a Node
    • Offers a semi-automated alternative to a fully functioning Node that allows users to submit XML documents to or download XML documents from a Partner’s Node
    • Integrated add-ons to view spatial data and facility data
  • EN Node – Node Client: The EN-Node software includes a bundled Node and Node Client. This Node Client runs as a web application, so in order to run this option, the user will need to install the application on a web server.
  • EN Browser: The EN Browser is a special Node Client that can be used to retrieve data from any Exchange Network data publishers.

Node 1.1 Compliant Tools

  • Sample client for .NET: A sample client that uses the included requestor library (CDX_DOTNET_REQUESTOR.DLL). This library is all that is needed to communicate with a Node from any .NET language (e.g., VB, C#, J#). Only requires the .NET Framework 1.X and WSE 1sp1. Note: the code is compiled so once you install you cannot make a lot of modifications.

  • C# Client Source Code: Allows you to change the above requestor library. If you don’t want to change the API, you should download the .NET Sample Client above. Requires the .NET Framework 1.X and 1sp1.
